Abstract

Objective To explore effects and side-effect of all-trans retinoic (ATRA) combined with arsenic trioxide on initital acute promyelocyte leukemia(APL) . Methods 7 cases of APL were treated with ATRA and arsenic trioxide, ATRA was given by 30mg - 60mg per day (10mg tid - 20mg tid), and 0.1% arsenic trioxide 10mg administered by intravenous in 500 ml 5 % glucose solution for 3 to 4 hours perday, 30 days as a course. Results 6 cases were complete remission, without hyper-leucocutemia syndrome and retinoic acid syndrome. Hepatic and renal damages were sh'ght in them. Their free-illness surviving period is longer. Conclusion It displays good-effect, little side-effect and longer free-illness surviving period that ATRA combined with arsenic trioxide on inital APL.
