The Relationship between the Serum Levels of E-Cadherin and the Biological Behaviors of Gastric Cancer

Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between the serum levels of E-Cadherin and the biological behaviors of gastric cancer.Methods The serum levels of E-Cadherin were detected by ELISA in 85 cases of gastric cancer and 50 cases of healthy people to analysis the relationship between above indexes and the biological behaviors of gastric cancer.Results The serum levels of E-Cadherin were significantly higher in preoperative gastric cancer patients than those in the healthy controls(P0.01).The serum levels of E-Cadherin significantly corelated with the depth of invasion,TNM staging,lymph node metastasis,distant metastasis(P0.01).Conclusion The serum levels of E-Cadherin is related with biological behaviors of gastric cancer.The serum levels of E-Cadherin may provide new markers for preoperative diagnosis,postoperative follow-up,monitoring of the metastasis or recurence of gastric cancer.
