Abstract
Objective: To study the efficacy of leflunomide in the treatment of refractory connective diseases. Methods: An open clinical trial was performed since 2002. 15 patients with refractory connective diseases were treated with low-dose leflunomide including 10 cases of SLE, 4 cases of DM, and 1 case of Behcet's disease. Results: Small dosage of leflunomide was exceptionally effective in the treatment of refractory connective diseases. It could well control the disease activity and reduce the dosage of systemic cortico steroids. Conclusion: leflunomide provides a good alternative for the treatment of refractory connective diseases.
