Abstract

In the current study,a laboratory bioassay was developed to measure the pathogenicities of five Nomuraea rileyi strains against Helicoverpa armigera,Spodoptera exigua and Spodoptera litura of noctuid larvae.The larvae were inoculated with conidia suspensions of N.rileyi at concentrations of 188.9 4048.3 conidia.mm 2 by a Potter Spray Tower,with 0.05% Tween-80 as control.After inoculation,the larvae were individually fed on artificial diet in plastic boxes at(24±1) ℃ and 12L:12D until pupated.Time-dose-mortality model was used to analyze the effect and indicated that the 5 fungal strains could kill 60% 95% of S.litura larvae at concentrations of 188.9 4048.3 conidia.mm 2within 10 d after conidia inoculation.Strain Nr15 demonstrated high virulence to S.litura larvae with a LC50value of 266.7 conidia.mm 2and a LT50value of 5.81 d at the concentration of 4048.3 conidia.mm 2,whereas mortalities of H.armigera and S.exigua didn’t reached 50%.The difference of mortality and fungal infection indicated that there is a host-specificity of N.rileyi strains to noctuid pest and density-dependent between dosage and disease.
