Civic Virtues and Republic——Republican Perspective and its Inspiration

Understood from the perspective of the republicanism,civic virtue which includes courage,dedication,eloquence,prudence and patriotism is the character and capacity for a citizen to serve the public interest and realize the ideal of freedom,republic and self-governance.Therefore,we can say no civic virtue,there would be no republic.Accordingly,the Republic has always attached great importance to strengthen the supply of civic virtue and make people become good citizens through public education,citizen participation,rule of good law and other ways.The republican explanation on the relationship between civic virtue and republic can not only help us improve the understanding of the concept of civic virtue,deepen our understanding of the importance of civic virtue,but also help us optimize the goals of civic education in our country,enrich and improve our instruments of civic education.
