Application of Reactive Power Compensation in the Design of Distribution System

Abstract

Reactive power compensation can reduce the losses of each line,the cross-sectional area,transformer capacity and the line pressure drop as well. The modes of reactive power compensation include centralized compensation in substation,on-site compensation in load,distributed compensation of lines and so on. For reactive power compensation,attention should be paid to the prevention of such problems as self-encouragement,reactive current injection and compensation of voltage regulator impacting on the operation of equipment. There are active power filter and unified power flow controller in the development of reactive power compensation. It shows that reactive power compensation is very important in the design of distribution system for enterprises.
