Abstract

Objective To understand the status of unprotected anal sex among men who have sex with men(MSM) and provide the suggestion for the intervention. Methods A face-to-face structure questionnaire interview was conducted among MSM recruited using snowball sampling.Associated factors with unprotected anal sex were analyzed using forward stepwise logistic regression where the status of unprotected anal sex was the dependent variable and demographics,AIDS awareness, sexual behaviors and the status of the intervention are independent variables. Results A total of 1 044 MSM were surveyed. The rate of AIDS awareness was 89.5% among MSM.The rate of unprotected anal sex during past 6 months was 63.8%.The multivariate analysis identified married MSM,junior school education,MSM engaged in employee or MSM unemployed, poor AIDS awareness and MSM who didn't receive the intervention in the last year as independent risk factor associated with unprotected anal sex. Conclusion High rate of unprotected anal sex will accelerate HIV transmission among MSM.It is major task to conduct the intervention and expand the coverage of the intervention among MSM.
