Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of C-reactive protein(CRP)on expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2)in human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVEC).Methods HUVEC were cocultured with different concentration of CRP for different time.MMP-2 protein and mRNA expression in HUVEC were measured by Western blotting and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results Incubation of HUVEC with CRP results in an increasing expression of protein and mRNA of MMP-2 in a concentration and time-depedent manner. Conclusion CRP enhances the expression of MMP-2 in HUVEC.
