Self-esteem and personality of undergraduate nursing students in different learning stages

Objective To investigate the level of self-esteem and personality among undergraduate nursing students in different learning stages.Methods Using the self-esteem scale and Eysenck personality questionnaire(adult),the level of self-esteem and personality of undergraduate nursing students in different learning stages were investigated.Results The level of self-esteem of undergraduate nursing students is the lowest in Grade Three(P0.05);The scores of personality in L dimension is the lowest in the earlier stage of clinical practice,and the highest in Grade two(P0.05);The level of self-esteem is positively correlated to the scores of personality in E dimension in Grade Three.The level of self-esteem is positively correlated to the scores of personality in P and N dimensions in the later stage of clinical practice.Conclusions The level of self-esteem and personality of undergraduate nursing students are different in different learning stages.Nursing educators should pay attention to students' psychological development,and help them to develop good vocational mental qualities.
