Abstract
【Objective】To explore the inhibitory effect of Rhizoma Zedoariae oil (RZO) on coronary restenosis after angioplasty in rats with arterial injury.【Methods】 Twenty-five rats were allocated to model group, mimic operation group and RZO group. Rat models with carotid balloon injury were established and the morphological and histological changes in injured segment of rats were analyzed by computer-assisted picture analysis.【Results】Fourteen days after balloon injury, thickness and area of neointima were increased; lumina area, perimeter of internal and external elastic lamina were shortened in model group ( P0.01 as compared with mimic operation group). The maximal thickness of neointima and area of neointima was less and lumina area, perimeter of internal and external elastic lamina were larger in RZO group than those in model group ( P0.01), the differences being insignificant between RZO group and mimic operation group (P 0.05) .【Conclusion】RZO can inhibit the formation of neointima and vascular remodeling and can prevent the arteries from restenosis after angioplasty.
