Abstract

Objective To determine the accuracy of electronic wrist blood pressure monitor.Methods In 98 cases of randomly selected inpatients,49 patients aged 18 to 55 were divided into young-middle-aged group,and another 49 patients aged 55 to 78 were divided into old-aged group,whose blood pressures were measured by wrist sphygmomanometer and upper arm cuff blood pressure monitor respectively.Results In the young-middle-aged group,blood pressures had no statistical significance(P 0.05);in the old-aged group,systolic blood pressures had no statistical significance(P 0.05);diastolic blood pressures had significant difference(P 0.05).Conclusion Wrist blood pressure monitor used in young-middle-aged patients has high accuracy and reliability,but nurses should be careful to measure for elderly patients over the age of 55.
