Abstract
Objective To explore the value of combined determination of urine microalbumin(UMA)and serum cystatin C(Cys-C)levels for evaluating early renal injury in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods A total of 235 patients with T2DM were divided into urine protein positive group(n=74)and urine protein negative group(n=161)according to the results of urine protein detection. The levels of serum Cys-C,serum creatinine(SCr)and UMA were determined in the two groups. Results The levels of Cys-C,SCr and UMA in urine protein positive group were significantly higher than those in urine protein negative group(P0.05 or 0.01).The positive rates of serum Cys-C and UMA were significantly higher than those of SCr in the two groups(P0.01),the positive rates of serum Cys-C,UMA,SCr,combined determination of Cys-C and UMA in urinary protein positive group were significantly higher than those in urine protein negative group(P0.01);the positive rate of combined determination of Cys-C and UMA was significantly higher than that of single Cys-C or UMA detection in urine protein negative group(P0.05).Conclusion Combined determination of serum Cys-C and UMA levels can increase the diagnosis sensitivity of early renal injury in patients with T2DM.
