Effect of Paroxetine in the treatment of post-stroke depression and recovery of nerve function

Abstract

Objective To investigate the treatment of post-stroke depression and paroxetine efficacy and impact on neurological rehabilitation.Methods Totally 70 patients with poststroke depression were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,35 patients in the control group received conventional therapy and psychological counseling and treatment group on the basis of conventional therapy plus treatment with paroxetine,20 mg/d,oral morning.Compared before treatment and 2,4,8 weeks after treatment Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) score before and after treatment neurological deficit score(SSS) and the activities of daily living Barthel Index(BI) assessment.Results After treatment,4 weeks,8 weeks was significantly lower than before treatment(P0.01),compared with the control group there was significant difference(P0.01),the two groups before treatment and after 8 weeks treatment SSS scores were reduced,BI score increased(P0.01),the treatment group changed more significantly than the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusions Paroxetine hydrochloride in the treatment of post-stroke depressive disorders anti-depression result is good,and can promote the recovery of neurological function and improve activities of daily living,medication safety.
