A discussion on the service of clinical pharmacy for the patients

Abstract

Aim: to question for that the clinical pharmacists serve the patients directly in the field of pharmacy. Methods: to analyze the status quo and prospect that the clinical pharmacists serve the patients in China, combining with experiences of the authors who engaged in clinical pharmacy, and compared with the development of pharmacy internationally and domestically. Result: clinical pharmacy is of 20 years' history, and has greatly developed in China. The development, however, is slow and uneven. The aspects being emphasized in China are very different from other countries: in our country, clinical pharmacy lays particular stress on the studies of pharmacy , monitoring drugs in lab, and their unwanted effects, consultation of rational medication, while the pharmacists rarely go deep into the ward to participate the decision - making of medication for the patients. Conclusion: The administrators must pay attention to, and stress the construction of the team of clinical pharmacist, and the clinical pharmacists should provide service to the patients directly, in pharmacy.
