The clinical observation on ondansetron hydrochloride in preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting following abdominal operation

OBJECTIVE To explore the clinical effect ondansetron hydrochloride in preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting following abdominal operation.METHODS 120 cases patients with abdominal operation were randomly divided into intervention group(60 cases)and control group(60 cases),the intervention group was treated with ondansetron hydrochloride,the control group was treated with dexamethasone.The heart rate and pulse were observed,the incidences and grade of postoperative nausea and vomiting were recorded at 24h postoperatively.RESULTS The incidence and grade of postoperative nausea and vomiting in the intervention group were lower that in the control group,there was significant differences(P0.05).CONCLUSION Ondansetron hydrochloride can prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting following abdominal operation,high effective rate、safely and minor side reaction,and hence is worthy of being recommended in clinical practice.
