Abstract

Objective To investigate the significance of serum C-reactive protein and uric acid in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods 100patients with acute cerebral infarction(NIHSS4)and 119 healthy persons were included in this study. The serum level of C-reactive protein and uric acid were determined. Results The serum level of C-reactive protein and uric acid were higher than healthy control group prospectively(P 0.01),and the level of C-reactive protein was higher in patients with higher scores(P 0.05).In female patients the level of uric acid was lower in patients with higher scores(P 0.01), while there was no difference in male patients(P 0.05).Conclusion Serum level of C-reactive protein and uric acid maybe risk factors of acute cerebral infarction, and the level of C-reactive protein may evaluate the severity of acute cerebral infarction. In female patients with acute cerebral infarction, the higher level of uric acid maybe as a protective factor.
