Abstract
Objective To discuss ondansetron on postoperative nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC).Methods 120 patients(60 men and 60 women) undergoing genera1 anesthesia for elective LC,were randomly divided into three groups: the preoperative group(Ⅰ group),postoperative group(Ⅱ group) and control group(Ⅲ group),with 40 paients each. The patients of preoperative group and postoperative group were given ondansetron 8 mg intravenously 30 min before anesthesia and after wakening of anesthesia separately. The con-trol group were given no antiemetic. The patients were observed for 48 h after administration of drug and recorded the incidence of nausea and vomiting and the adverse effects of drugs. If the patients occured nausea and vomiting, they were given ondansetron 8 mg intravenously again. Results The incidence of patients who occured nausea and vomiting was 32.5 inⅠ group,12.5 in Ⅱ group and 55 in Ⅲ group. They were sig-nificant difference compared with each other(P 0.05).There were 40 patients occured nausea and vomiting after LC.They were given on-dansetron 8 mg intravenously again and 34 patients were emesis free.No clinically important adverse effects were observed in any of the groups. Conclusion Ondansetron can be safe and effective in prevention and treatment of postoperative nausea, vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
