Expression and Clinical Significance of Matrix Metalloproteinase-13 and Tissue Inhibitor of Matrix Metalloproteinases-3 Protein in Uterine Leiomyoma

Objective To observe the expression of matrix metalloproteinase 13(MMP-13) and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases 3(TIMP-3) in uterine leiomyoma,and to explore the relationship among MMP-13,TIMP-3 and the incidence of uterine leiomyoma as well as their clinical significance.Methods Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression of MMP-13 and TIMP-3 protein in 57 cases of uterine leiomyoma and 45 cases of uterine fibroids and peritumoral tissues,and the results were compared.Results MMP-13 and TIMP-3 were mostly positively expressed in uterine leiomyoma tissues,but mostly negatively expressed in uterine fibroids and peritumoral tissues,and the differences were statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusions The abnormal expression of MMP-13 and TIMP-3 in uterine tissue may be associated with the incidence of uterine leiomyoma.
