Abstract
The carbon-based solid acid catalyst prepared from sucrose and p-toluenesulfonic acid( TsOH) by one-step hydrothermal method was used to synthesize methyl oleate from oleic acid and methyl alcohol. The effects of the amount of catalyst, the molar ration of alcohol to acid, reaction time and repeated usability of the catalyst, etc. on the esterification rate were investigated. The result showed that the optimum condition was as follows: 3. 54% catalyst based on oleic acid, molar ration of methyl alcohol to oleic acid 6 ∶ 1 and reaction time 7 h,the esterification rate was 94. 96%. In addition, the catalyst had certain repeated applicability.
