Abstract
Foster classified in narrative prose as flat characters and round characters while Shen Dan classified them as functional characters and characters.This paper classifies them as functional characters and characters.Functional refer to those who play the role of regulation and control in narrative prose and aesthetic refer to those who outstand as aesthetic image and aesthetic value.Aesthetic cover flat characters,round characters whose exterior actions are depicted and characters whose psychological activities are revealed.
