Minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy in the treatment of 127 cases of upper urinary lithiasis

Abstract

Objective To investigate and access the clinical technique and efficacy of minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy(MPCNL)combined with pneumatic lithotripsy for upper urinary lithiasis treatment.Methods The clinical data of 127 cases with upper urinary lithiasis who underwent MPCNL were analyzed retrospectively.Results 96 cases presented stone free after the first MPCNL,24 after the second one,and 4 resorted to open surgery.The other 3 cases still had residual stones 2 months after operation,and after ESWL they were stone free.Mean operating time was 110min,mean amount of bleeding 70 mL,mean hospital stay 7 days.The stone-free rate was 94.5%.There were no secondary postoperative bleeding,urine leakage,ureter or renal pelvis perforation,pneumothorax,abdominal organ damage and other complications.Conclusion MPCNL to treat upper urinary lithiasis shows advantages of less blood loss,less operative trauma,and shorter postoperative recovery time.
