Abstract
Objective To observe the improvement in insulin resistance (IR) of essential hypertension (EH) patients treated with the therapeutic method of activating blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis. Methods With ten cases of healthy volunteers as normal group, 120 cases of EH accordance to the standard were divided into 60 cases of blood stasis and 60 cases of non-blood stasis by syndrome differentiation. Each syndrome type was randomly divided into treatment group and control group with the same cases (30 cases). All groups were given the same basic western medicine treatment. The therapeutic method of activating blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis (Danshen Injection) was continuously given to the treatment group for 14 days. IAI, grade of blood stasis syndrome, BP and HR of all groups were observed and compared before and after treatment. Results Before treatment, IAI of EH patients was lower than that of normal group, and IAI in EH patients with blood stasis was lower than that with non-blood stasis. After treatment, IAI in the treatment group of EH with blood stasis was improved more than that in the control group, and in the treatment group of EH with non-blood stasis was improved compared with that before treatment, but had no significant difference with the control group. BP in all groups was improved after treatment, and in the treatment group of EH with blood stasis was improved more than that in the control group. There was no significant difference in BP improvement between the two groups of EH with non-blood stasis. Conclusion The therapeutic method of activating blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis can improve the insulin sensitivity and control BP more satisfactorily in EH patients with blood stasis. To EH patients with non-blood stasis, the therapeutic method probably can improve the insulin sensitivity.
