On the Academic Significance of "Confucian Classics Is Neo-Confucianism" Put forward by Gu Yanwu

The forming of trend of thought of PUXUE in the early Qing Dynasty first owed to Gu Yanwu.Gu had put forward Confucian classics namely Neo-Confucianism,whichwas the most powerful criticism on the Neo-Confucianism.It collapsed the theoretical foundation of Neo-Confucianism and made it replaced by Puxue,and hence advanced the mental liberation at that time.With the academic tenet,Gu advocated upstanding the Way in the Confucian classics through phonology and textual research and then saving the world.That had promoted the establishment of a new methodology i.e.textual research which contained practical and realistic spirit.
