A Brief Discussion of Zha Shenxing’s Poetics

The emergence and development of the School of Song Poetry can’t be ignored, when poetry in the early Qing Dynasty is mentioned. This school, initiated by Qian Qianyi, has reached a new height in the creation of Song Poetry when Zha Shenxing joined. Zha Shenxing was famous for poetry writing, and his poetic thoughts, spread in his poetic works and literary criticism, lack systematic elaboration. However his representative opinions in poetics still can be found: learning poetic styles both from Tang and Song Dynasties, and based on sensibility, which are closely related with the poetic atmosphere as well as instruction and influence by his teachers.
