Abstract
Using ammonium cerium(Ⅳ) nitrate as initiator,a series of cationic starch—acryloyloxyethyltrimethylammonium chloride(DAC)graft copolymers containing quaternary ammonium groups were prepared by grafting DAC onto starch in aqueous solution. The influences of reaction condition on the percentage of grafting(PG) were investigated. The results showed that the cationic graft copolymer of high PG could be obtained in this reaction system. The maximum PC of 118.67% was achieved with initiator concentration of 1.5×10-2 mol/L,m(DAC)∶m(starch)=3,at reaction temperature 40 ℃ and reaction time 4 h.Structures of the graft copolymers were characterized by FTIR,1HNMR and XRD.
