Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of P-glycoprotein and to explore the relationship between the P-gp expression and the clinicopathologic features in human liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods The expression of P-gp in 41 cases with HCC,10 cases with cirrhosis and 10 cases with normal tissue of liver were detected by immunohistochemical technique(streptavidin-biotin complex,SABC).Results P-gp positive was detected in 29(70.73%)of 41 HCC,4 of 10 in cirrhosis,3 of 10 in normal tissues, positive granute is mainly in cell membrane. There were significant difference in HCC,cirrhosis and normal liver(P 0.05).In the area of normal liver, the expression was significant lower than that in tumor area(P 0.017).In the area of cirrhosis, the expression was significant lower than that in tumor area(P 0.017).No significant difference was seen between cirrhosis and normal liver(P 0.017).The positive expression rate of P-gp was significantly correlated with Edmondson's histological grade(P 0.05).Conclusion It is possibility that overexpression of P-gp promote the development and malignancy generation of HCC.
