Abstract
Both traditional culture-dependent method and PCR-Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis(PCR-DGGE) were used to evaluate the effects of Lactobacillus plantarum WCFS1 on the amount and species of microflora in mice intestinal tract.It is observed that the amount of Lactobacillus in mice intestine during the feeding and recovery stages significantly increased(P0.05) when compared with the control stage;while the amount of Enterococcus decreased(P0.01).The DGGE pattern and diversity analysis indicated that the diversity of microflora at the feeding stage had great increase(P0.01),however,this situation changed and the diversity of microflora showed no difference between control stage and treated stage within 7 days.Furthermore,the sequencing of DGGE band showed that Lactobacillus plantarum WCFS1 occupied the dominant position in the intestinal microflora of the major testing mice during the feeding stage.
