Analysis of the factors for recurrence of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia after radiofrequency catheter ablation

Abstract

Objective To analyze of the factors for recurrence of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia after radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) in order to reduce the recurrent rate.Methods RFCA was performed in 132 patients with atrioventricular node reciprocal tachycardia (AVNRT) or atrioventricular reciprocal tachycardia and the factors associated with recurrence were analyzed.Results During 4 to 24 months′ follow-up,recurrences were found in 10 cases.The overall recurrent rate among 132 patients was 7.58%.The recurrent rate was 6.52% in patients with AVNRT,5.89% in patients with left atrioventricular by-pass(AP) and 14.28% in patients with right AP.The recurrence rate was 11.43% in the 70 patients receiving radiofrequency ablation earlier,and 3.22% in the 63 patients later.Conclusion Accurate targeting,full mastery of the technique and methods of radiofrequency catheter ablation are key factors to reducing the recurrent rate.
