Confucian Philosophy in Lie Nu and Its Evolvement as Viewed from Xuzhou Local Chronicles at the End of Qing Dynasty and Beginning of the Republic Of China

The later years of Qing Dynasty were a period of drastic thought revolution, in which new ideas clashed in various fields with the old ones. This essay analyses the evolution of feudal Confucian ideas under the charge of revolutionary ideas. On the one hand, the feudal Confucian ideas of complying and virtues were still corrupting people's souls. On the other hand,modern thinkers were pouring fresh spirit to anti-Confucius ideas which advocated that widows could remarry. This shows the inevitability of historical development.
