Abstract
Objective To investigate the two-week prevalence of urban and rural residents in Zhejiang province,and to provide an objective evidence for policymaking of health service.Methods Representative cities and villages in Zhejiang province were selected by multi-stage stratified cluster sampling.Household investigation was conducted with the questionnaire used in the third health service investigation by Ministry of Health.Results The two-week prevalence rate of residents was 113.22‰ totally,103.98‰ in urban areas and 114.94‰ in rural areas,respectively.Severity of diseases of residents in rural areas was higher than that in urban areas.The two-week prevalence rate was 121.87‰ in female and 104.72‰ in male,respectively.And it was associated with age,educational level,occupation and medical insurance pattern.The top 5 of the two-week prevalence rates were as follows: respiratory system diseases,digestive system diseases,circulatory system diseases,muscle skeleton system,injuries and poisoning.Conclusions Health service needs in rural areas are higher than that in urban areas.More health services should be provided to females,children,elders,unemployed and those who are in lower educational level.In urban areas health services should be emphasized on the prevention and control of chronic diseases,while in rural areas prevention and control of infectious diseases.The chronic diseases and injuries should be principal tasks in health service.
