Abstract
Based on the Huygens-Fresnel principle, the rectangle aperture 's Fraunhofer diffraction pattern was simulated by using MATLAB programming. The diffraction fringes change by adjusting the parameter of the size of the square hole, the side length of rectangular aperture and the shape of prismatic hole etc.The simulation result shows that diffraction fringes agree with the hole shape. The diffraction fringes become closer with the increase in the size of apertures, which agrees with optical theory. The simulation is helpful for students to understand the phenomenon and characteristics of Fraunhofer diffraction.
