On the Contemporary Value of Ecological Marxism

Ecological Marxism came into being during the second half of the 20 th century,and is closely related to the frequent occurrence of environmental problems and the green movement. Different from traditional Marxism which takes the economic crisis as a starting point to criticize capitalism,ecological Marxism holds that ecological problems constitute the basic reason against capitalism,and takes the overcoming of the ecological crisis as the core of the social dimension in the future. Although there are some shortcomings in the reflection of ecological Marxism on the modern industrial society,ecological Marxism,as the combination of Marxism and human survival environment,has important significance to the construction of ecological civilization in China.
