Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effectiveness and safety of laser subepithelial keratomileusis(LASEK) for the correction of intense myopia.METHODS LASEK were run on 134 eyes of 73 patients with intense myopia. All were followed for 12 months. Before and after treatment visual acuity, refraction, intraocular pressure and Haze were observed.RESULTS The visual acuity at 12 month after operation wasn′t worse than the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)before operation in 83 eyes(61.9).The refraction degree after operation wasn′t more than ±1.00D in 89.6 of all the eyes. The result after operation was significantly better than that before operation(paired t-test, P0.01 ).Haze of all patients was under control at 2 grade below, the percent of 0 grade was 83.6. CONCLUSIONS LASEK has good stability and predictability, and it is an effective and safe method for the correction of intense myopia. But some questions need solve still.
