Abstract

Directing against retrofitting oil-fired 410 t/h boiler in Maoming Power Plant into coal-water slurry(CWS) fired one, a test study has been carried out. Results show that the rated output capacity and the prediccted design parameters of the retrofitted boiler can all be reached by wholly burning heavy oil or CWS, the thermal efficiecy can be enhanced 0.93% and 1.45% of the designed efficiency respectively. The situation of combustion is good, the combustible carbon content in ash and slag is low, the requirements for long-term continuous operation have been satisfied. Comparing with buring heavy oil, half of SO_2 emission can be reduced when buring CWS, but the NO_x emission to be slightly enhanced. Extremely remarkable economic and environmental benefits can be obtained by retrofitting oil-fired boiler into CWS-fired one.
