Abstract

Objective To investigate the preventive effects of Probucol on nonaloholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)in rats, and explore the possible mechanisms. Methods Twenty-four male SD rats were randomized into normal control group(NC group), NAFLD control group(HF group) and Probucol prevention group(PB group).NAFLD rat model was established by feeding with high caloric diet.Serum TC,TG,ALT,AST and liver lipid contents, oxidoreduction index, liver histology were assayed at the end of the 18th week. Results Compared with NAFLD control group,Probucol group serum TC,ALT and liver TG decreased significantly(P0.05);fatty degeneration of liver tissues and hepatic inflammation markedly reduced(P0.05).Conclusion Probucol have protective effects on NAFLD in rats, and these effects may be related to raise the anti-oxidation ability, reduce the organization oxidation stress.
