The expression and clinical significance of CD24 in human gastric carcinoma

Objective:To investigate the relationship between the expression of CD24 protein and carcinogenesis,development,the grade,clinical stage,depth of invasion,lymphnode metastasis of gastric carcinoma.Methods:CD24 protein expression of 56 gastric carcinomas were analysed by SP immunohistochemistry.The expression of CD24 protein was shown by the positive cells rate.Results:The positive rate of CD24 protein expression in gastric carcinoma tissues was 80.36%,obviously higher than 30.36% in the normal gastric tissue.The higher the grade,the lymphnode metastasis and the clinical stage of tumor were,the higher the expression of CD24 protein.And the differences amony each groups were statistically significant.Conclusion:The expression of CD24 protein has positive correlation with depth of invasion,lymphnode metastasis and the TNM stage of gastric carcinoma.The expression of CD24 protein may play a significant role in the development of the gastric carcinoma and be a prognostic marker for disease-free survival in the gastric carcinoma.
