Abstract

Objective To compare the effects of excision of pterygium with gliding autograft transplantation of the corneal limbal stem cells and traditional transplantation of the corneal limbal stem Methods 218 eyes of 166 patients were randomly divided into two groups:excision of pterygium with gliding autograft transplantation of the corneal limbal stem cells(groupA,58 cases and 78 eyes) and traditional transplantation of the corneal limbal stem in the treatment of pterygium(group B,108 cases and 140 eyes). The recurrence of pterygium were observed after the operation.Results The postoperative follow-up period was 6-12 months. Pterygium recurred in 1 eye (1.28%)in group A,3 eyes(4.29%)in group B,At final follow-up,statistically no significant difference was found between two groups(χ2=1.454,0.05)Conclusion The excision of pterygium with gliding autograft transplantation of the corneal limbal stem cells is a convenient,efficient and microinvasive surgery,which had light complaint symptoms and low recurrence rate.
