Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the absorbability of PVC infusion sets and TPE infusion sets to three drugs, as a reference for clinical choice of infusion sets. METHODS: Solution of Nitraglycerin, Isosorbide Dinitrate and Isosorbide Mononitrate was prepared separately as per actual concentration needed by the clinic, and flowed through PVC infusion sets (PVC1, PVC2) of two different manufacturers and TPE infusion sets as well. The concentration at different time points before and after the solutions' passing through the transfusion system was measured by HPLC. RESULTS: In the end of infusion, the contents of Nitraglycerin, Isosorbide Dinitrate and Isosorbide Mononitrate passing through the TPE infusion sets decreased respectively 2.5%, 0.06% and 0.24%; The maximum absorption of PVC infusion sets to the three drugs were: PVC1:30.98%, 16.52%, 13.85%; PVC2:37.13%, 16.14%, 15.60%. The two infusion sets showed statistical difference in absorbability(P0.05). CONCLUSION: TPE infusion sets have little absorbability to the three drugs, and PVC infusion sets have marketed absorbability to part of the three drugs, high attention from the clinic should be paid to the difference.
