Abstract

Objective To explore the most effective therapeutic methods to ingrown toenails paronychia. Methods A total of 268 patients with ingrown toenails paronychia were analyzed. Group A( n = 65) was treated with whole nail removal,Group B( n = 78)with partial nail removal,and Group C( n = 125) with partial nail removal combined with CO2 Laser. All the groups were followed up for 6 months after the treatment,and the therapeutic outcomes were compared. Results Dressing exchange frequency,healing time,healing rate and recurrence rate were listed as follow,Group A( 5 ± 1. 78,10 ± 2. 43,61. 54%,38. 46%),Group B( 3 ±0. 66,6 ± 1. 56,70. 51%,29. 49%) and Group C( 3 ± 0. 45,6 ± 1. 38,97. 60%,2. 40%). On dressing exchange frequency and wound healing time,no obvious differences were found between Group B and C which were both obviously better than Group A.As for cure rate from high to and recurrence rate from low to high,the three groups were listed following a sequence of Group C,B and A. The differences were statistically significant. Conclusion Partial nail removal combined with CO2 Laser has advantage of less pain,good adherence and high cure rate in the treatment of ingrown toenails paronychia.
