Comparison among Three Therapeutic Methods for Treatment of Ingrown Toenails Paronychia

Objective To investigate the effective therapeutic methods for ingrown toenails paronychia. Methods One hundred and ten cases ofingrown toenails paronychia were retrospective analyzed. Thirty cases in group A were treated by all nail extraction, forty cases in group B were treated by partial nail extraction combined with nail root curettage, forty cases in C group of were treated by partial nail extraction. Healing time, recovery rate and recurrence rate among them were compared. Results The Healing time, recovery rate and recurrence rate of group A(8±2.38,66.67% and 33.33%) were no better than group B (4±2.57,89.13% and 10.87%)and C(4±1.58,90.91% and 9.09%) respectively (P both0.01),and there was no difference between group B and C (P both0.05).Conclusion Partial nail extraction combined nail root curettage and partial nail extraction were better than all nail extraction due to better curative effect, less pain and better compliance, and partial nail extraction had advantage of less surgical instruments, easily operation and less bleeding over partial nail extraction combined nail root curettage.
