Comparison of therapeutic effects of venlafaxine combined with buspirone in the treatment of depression

Abstract

Objective:To study the efficacy and side effects of venlafaxine combined with buspirone in the treatment of depression. Methods:Eighty six patients who met the criteria of CCMD-2-R for depression were randomly assigned to venlafaxine combined with buspirone treatment groups(44 patients)and venlafaxine treatment group(42 patients)for 8 weeks.HAMD,HAMA and TESS were used to evaluate the efficacy and side effects. Result:The reduction rates of HAMD scores and HAMA scores in study group at the 2nd,4th,6th and 8th weekends were significantly higher than those in the control group (p0.05)(p0.01). The significant improvement and total improvement rates in the study were 84.1% and 95.5%, which were higher than those in the control group.There was no significat difference in side effects.Conclusion:The effect of enlafaxine combined with buspirone might be fast and bas little side effect in the treatment of depression.
