A NEW SPECIES OF CHRYSOPS FROM YUNNAN PROVINCE, CHINA (DIPTERA: TABANIDAE)

Chrysops atrinus sp. nov. (fig. 1)Pamale: length 8-9mm. Prons yellow gray pollinose with black and yellow hairs, about as high as its width. Frontal callus lage, shiny black, narrowly separated from eye margins. Pace allus black, round-shaped. Subcallus, face and cheek with yellow pollinose and yellowish hairs. Antennae long, black and with black hairs, the flagellum not quite so long as the seape and the pedicel together. Second palpal (black with yellowish hairs. Thorax and scutellum black, covered with golden hairs, without stripe. Pleura and sternum gray with yellow hairs. Legs black with eoncolorous hairs. Halters black. Wing with brown cross band, apical spot brown, longer than 4/5 of vein R4 and separated from the cross band. Tergite Ⅰ black with small spots laterally, tergite Ⅱ yellowish with black tad apicaly, median with indefinite black spot, tergites Ⅲ-Ⅳ black with or without round yellowish spots, following tergites black.Male: Unknown.Holotype ♀, Lushui County (25°58'N, 95°52'E), Yunnan Provice, 1750m, 27. Ⅵ. 1981, collected by Chao Chien-ming. Paratypes 2♀♀ same as holotype. Types deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica.This new species related to Chrysops pettigrewi Ricardo, but easily distinguished from latter by tergete Ⅰ most black, tergete Ⅱ with black posterior margin and with indefinite black median A spot.
