Abstract
Applied linguistics is a study which links the theory of language with practice,and language teaching and learning are its primarily concerned.This paper mainly focuses on the questions,such as what is applied lin- guistics,what it refers to,or what the difference between applied linguistics and other branches of linguistics is and tries to give detailed account of meaning of applied linguistics and of its study scope.
