Abstract

Disparities exist in the recognition of a simile for various reasons.Some wrongly take them as a simile,according to the Chinese versions after translation,rather than the English original.Besides,another cause to make the mistake is in that the differences of Chinese and English are overlooked,only to take the English simile as the same as the Chinese one,and consequently fail to catch the broad sense of the metaphor in English.In this thesis,some examples are listed to clarify the recognition of a simile.
