Abstract

Objective: To assess the value of maximum intensity projection (MIP) of multi slice spiral CT(MSCT) in measuring the scapula glenoid inclination angle. Methods: 24 shoulder joint specimens were scanned with 16 slice spiral CT scanner, the scapula glenoid inclination angles were measured by MIP of three-dimensional reconstruction with MSCT .The scapula glenoid inclination angle was respectively decided by two different coronal MIP view of the scapula located in the front and back section. The two groups glenoid inclination angles were analyzed by the statistics. Results: The scapula glenoid inclination angles ranged from 95.86°to 117.78°. The scapula glenoid inclination angles of two groups were 106.91°+6.30°,106.60°+6.57°respectively, without statistically significant difference between them. Conclusion: The choice of section has no influence on MIP measuring the scapula glenoid inclination angle. The method of MIP with MSCT measuring the scapula glenoid inclination angle is of good repeatability and great val-
