Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of fresh amniotic membrane transplantation and emergency medical treatment in early stage of severe ocular burn.Methods 15 patients with ocular burn (18 eyes) were treated with fresh amniotic membrane transplantation.4 cases of severe alkali burn (5 eyes),3 cases of severe acid burn (4 eyes) and 8 cases of thermal burn (8 eyes) were inclued.Results In all eyes,there was no reject reaction observed.After surgery,corneal dissolution and iris atrophy were not found.There were 12 eyes with corneal macula and 4 eyes with corneal neovascular. 2 eyes were treated with corneal transplantation because of leucoma in most area of corneal.Conclusions Emer-gency medical treatment and amniotic membrane transplantation can promote the migration of epithelium cell, reduce local inflammation reaction, neovascularizaion and fibrosis.
