Study on the combining ability of tassel traits in waxy corn

Abstract

Eight inbred lines of waxy corn with different tassel traits were taken as materials.According to the Griffing diallel method Ⅱ,the combining ability effect and genetic parameters of tassel length and tassel branch number were studied.The results showed that the order of tassel branch number GCA value was N27N34N46N7N8N4N28N23,and the tassel length order of GCA value was N7N28N23N27N34N46N4N8;The inheritance of tassel length and tassel branch number were mainly controlled by additive genes,and affected by non-additive genes as well;The effects of combining ability among different inbred lines with the different extend of postive and negative effects;The difference in special combining ability among combinations was also obvious;According to the calculating of heritability,the generalized heritability of tassel length and tassel branch number were 66.03% and 60.25%,respectively; the narrow heritability of tassel length and tassel branch number were 57.87% and 31.28%,respectively.It showed that the tassel length had better choose effect in low generation.
