Abstract
The method of applying ship handling simulator to optimize the layout of navigation structures was analyzed and proved in this paper. The maneuvering mathematical model was built and verified by national standards.Using ship handling simulator, the layout design scheme for junction of the Yangtze River and water diversion project from the Yangtze River to Hanjiang River was studied. The results show that:the maximum navigable discharge in the design scheme is 15 000 m3/s,which cannot satisfy the requirements of design. The bending radius for connection section of upstream and downstream is enlarged in optimization plan. Then the route of upstream and downstream is enlarged and the cross flow is decreased.Ships have enough room to adjust the motion.
