Abstract

Objective To observe the clinic effect of mesalazine suppository in treating ulcerative colitis.Method For 56 cases of mild or moderate ulcerative colitis were randomly divided into two groups, the therapy group(n = 28) was given mesalazine suppository by anal pluging(one tablet per day) and the control group(n = 28) was given alicylazosulfapyridine(SASP)(1.0 g,4 times per day, oral taken). The treatment period lasted 8 weeks. Results Mesalazine suppository given by anal pluging showed better effects than SASP in treating ulcerative colitis, with fewer side effects. Conclusion Mesalazine suppository given by anal pluging shows better effects and less side effects than alicylazosulfapyridine in treating mild or moderate ulcerative colitis.
