On Sima Qian's Contribution to Historical Theory

Abstract
Through analysis and comparison of the commentaries of Sima Qian, Records of the Historian , and the gentlmen having written many classics in pre Qin period, with abundant materials, this paper proves that some of Sima Qian's historical views are inherited from the historians in pre Qin period. This paper further shows that Sima Qian has made great contribution to the innovative development of historical theory.
